Hi, my name is Bethanie.
The therapeutic relationship is often seen as the most effective part of therapy. I am authentic and genuine with my clients while maintaining professional boundaries. It is important that you feel safe and free of judgement to share who you truly are, your hopes, your story and what has happened to you. I want to hold space for you to speak and feel those things in a healing way. Connection is the key between you and your therapist.
I believe that we are all continuing to evolve and learn to live with life challenges- the peaks and valleys. I understand the pain that living can bring at times within ourselves and our relationships. I have worked with clients and families in all life stages in medical settings, psychiatric settings and community settings.
I was adopted and grew up in Western North Carolina - near the land of the waterfalls. I received my BA in Sociology at UNC-Asheville in 1990, and my Masters in Social Work from USC in 1994. During my 28 plus professional years I have advocated and worked with a variety of groups and issues: Adoption/ Birthparent, Veteran’s access to mental health services, Breast Cancer and Reconstruction options and processes. I love to be recharged by students and worked for 5 years as an Adjunct Faculty Member at USC College of Social Work as well as a Field Instructor.
As most humans, my life has had twists and turns. Mine included a marriage with 3 children ages 29, 27 and 26. And my current marriage with 2 young adult step sons, ages 33 and 30. Marriage, Divorce, Single Parenting, blending families are all very challenging. I am now currently very happily married to a man who retired from the military. We now enjoy our grandchildren ages 4,3, 2, and few months.
My counseling influences include Virginia Satir with her work on becoming more fully human. I have received advanced training in divorce mediation, Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for work with couples. As well as the Gottman method of marital therapy. I actively purse and invest in my practice by continuing to attend advance trainings, pursue certifications, receive clinical supervision as well as see my own therapist for self-care.
You don’t have to do it all alone, no one was ever meant to.
“Bethanie has gone above and beyond to always help guide me and understand the things I need to focus and spend my time on to encourage me toward a healthier life. I have had numerous breakthroughs throughout my time with her and I will continue to seek her for help in the future. She is the best! If you’re looking for someone understanding, funny and down to earth - she is your gal!”

“I’ve been seeing Bethanie for three months and she has changed my perspective on so many aspects of my life. I came to her to help work on my trust issues and emotional issues. We’ve dived deep into them while also finding moments to laugh. She is fantastic. I highly recommend her services. My husband notices a positive difference after every session. She’s truly wonderful!”
